Promoting Language Policy is an AHRC funded project that seeks to provide robust evidence for the value of languages to key issues of UK public policy. The Principal Investigator is Wendy Ayres-Bennett, University of Cambridge.

The project’s aims are twofold. In collaboration with RAND Europe, it will produce more rigorous evidence for the economic impact of the lack of language skills in the UK. It will also create a repository of language policy documents for policymakers, stakeholders and researchers.

The project builds on the work of MEITS (Multilingualism: Empowering Individuals, Transforming Societies), a major interdisciplinary research project funded under the AHRC Open World Research Initiative.
